The Road to Success: Target Marketing People have different needs and wants; there is no doubt in that. Every person is different and not everyone comes from the same culture, have the same beliefs, or occupations. This is way it may not be no easy to determine in what product or service someone would be interested in. Marketers oversee making the decision of to whom target. Businesses would not have the same success without the study of markets. Target marketing is the selection of segments a company will go after dividing the market into segments of customers, which is known as market segmentation. However, only until recent times it was “created.” As the author of “Hispanic Marketing” states “It exists because marketers have been saying it does for over 30 years” (Korzenny and Korzenny 285). The 1980’s is even known as the “Decade of the Hispanic,” branded by Lionel Sosa. During that decade, the Hispanic population in the USA was of 10 million. There is said that Hispanic population by 2050 could be of 100 million. But, how to target this market? Of course, a way to do it is by showing commercials and making billboards in Spanish. According to Korzenny, 60% of the Hispanics prefer to speak spanish if given the opportunity. So, for them, to see advertisements in their language gives them a sense of comfort (Korzenny and Korzenny 290-303). One of many companies that have succeeded in reaching the Hispanic population is AT&T. AT&T began creating ads in recent years that highlight the use of Spanglish. They were trying to entice the millennial generation to switch to AT&T. According to this company, the ads are effective across both American and Latin American Markets (“6 Brands that Succeeded…”
