Not only was the fashion of the 1960s iconic, the music and television were just as ravishing and gallant. The nifty 1960s was the era that began to explore television in not just black and white but with a little color. With this stupefying, intriguing advance in technology television became increasingly popular. According to the text, “Television cemented its grip on American attention spans during the 1960s”(Sharen Monteith). Television began to surge in the 1960s, and by the end of the sixties, 90% of people owned a television in there home. Famous and influential entertainers were the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix's, The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, and more. Bob Dylan was one of the most influential entertainers of the decade because he was a very talented musician who knew how to convey messages through his songs. Bob's messages helped change the world with his deep, benevolent political statements and well written passionate songs. His statements had to do with war, peace, and love which really got to the listener's hearts and made his songs worth listening to. The author states, “He was probably the most influential songwriter of the decade”(History.com Staff). Furthermore, the Beatles were a monumental sensation in the 60s for there entertainment. The Beatles, had the looks, the charm, and the talent to be everyone's favorite band. The 1960s were full of valuable world leaders that strove to make their resilient voices heard and bring justice and peace to the world. People like, John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., Richard Nixon, Mao Zedong, Nelson Mandela, and Fidel Castro all went through exceedingly great lengths to produce a safer, better world throughout the 1960s decade. Two of the biggest leaders during this time period were Martin Luther King, Jr. and John F. Kennedy. According to the text, “King played a part in many well-known civil rights movements in the 1950s and 1960s” (David Wright). Dr. King was an inspiring, intelligent, and brave person. He helped to stop racism and constructive dehumanization and segregation against African Americans. His contributions to the African American society changed the way Americans as a whole viewed blacks and all different ethnic groups. Martin Luther King, Jr. held numerous protests, gave jaw-dropping, heartwarming speeches, and was fearless and brave to stand up for his beliefs and rights that were critically violated. Unfortunately, Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated at the age of 39 in 1968. John F.
