Would people be willing to sacrifice their daily lives for the sake of change, or will they cower in fear for eternity? Christopher columbus discovered America in the year 1492. This discovery paved the way for the colonization of America over the years ;however, the descendants of those who managed to survive the harsh winters were unhappy with the conditions they were living under. During the 1700s, the American revolution started to emerge due to many of the problems that they faced under the rule of the King of England which eventually lead to a revolt known as the American Revolution.
Government laws are necessary for our communities because if people do not agree with the government, it does not mean government decision are incorrect. In “Civil Disobedience,” Thoreau talks about government and points out the flaws in the government system. On the other hand, in “ The Grapes of Wrath,” Steinbeck talk on the birth of civilization from physical and governmental issues. Although, many cases Thoreau and Steinbeck perspectives on government contradicts with each other however they both share similar thoughts about self-government.
The political protest known as the Boston Tea Party took place on the evening of December 16, 1773, in Boston, Massachusetts. The political protest was a demonstration of rebellion orchestrated by the Sons of Liberty in order to protest the Tea Act. The royal governor of Massachusetts, Thomas Hutchinson, allowed three ships- The Dartmouth, The Eleanor, and The Beaver- to enter the Boston Harbor. The ships were carrying tea to sell to the colonists on behalf of the British East India Company.

One of the conflicts between the British and the Colonists took place during the year of 1773, when colonists protested the use of tariffs on tea placed by the British. This protest was one of the main reasons why the American Revolution was fought. The Boston Tea Party was significant to the American independence, because this was one of the many protests of British rule over the colonies. This finally led to a war which in the end granted the colonies their independence.
The Revolution That Brought It All Century after century the human race repeatedly makes history an astonishment through gifted historians, scientists, and politicians whom have brought us warfare, revolutions and independence. The British colonized the eastern seaboard of America during the 17th and 8th centuries. However, the colonies were not contented with the British government. The disatisfaction of the colonist towards the British government led to a continuous back and forth of revolts; thus leading to laws attempting to affix the colonies. These laws inevitably induced the rise of the American Revolution. The demand for no taxation without representation supported the colonies abhor for British tyranny, forgather the colonist, and symbolized the pressure colonial leaders placed on a republican form of government.
The American revolution was all about freedom and liberty. Characters throughout the story voice different opinions on their idea of freedom and liberty. During this fight for freedom and liberty, there were three main groups. Patriots(colonist against the king), Loyalists(colonist for the king), and the slaves. They all describe freedom and liberty in different ways.
During the formation of a new nation, the government is founded upon one of four theories. The theory that most prominently influenced America's framers was the social contract theory, which can be described as a population in a state of nature giving up as much power to a government as needed to promote the wellbeing of all. To this end, the founding fathers endorsed Philosopher John Locke’s theory that since the government derives its power from its people, citizens are entitled to replace their government if their natural rights are violated. Therefore, during the American Revolution, American colonists were justified to utilize civil disobedience against British policies. Similarly, in modern times, citizens are still justified to practice their obligation explained in the Declaration of Independence that “whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation . . .
Being rebellious means to do whatever it takes to achieve your goal, no matter what the consequences are. According to Wilde, "it is through disobedience that progress has been made" (Wilde). Oscar' Wilde's claims that disobedience is a valuable human trait and promotes social progress are valid. All of these people are practicing what they think is civil disobedience differently and for different purposes therefore they cannot be a port of the same group. On page 56 it says that civil disobedients are “organized minorities, bound together by common opinion, rather than by common interest.” These five people do not share a common opinion, they all just want the war to stop for different reasons. Each one of these people is wanting the war to stop for their own self-interest. For example, Mary is against the war because her taxes are being raised and Tom is against the war because it has been going on for too long, and there is no chance to win.
Disobedience When people think disobedience they might think someone is doing something counter productive, That they are hurting the cause instead of helping. In Oscar Wilde’s statement he states the opposite. He says that “disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man’s original virtue.” that our source of choice came from being disobedient. Throughout history people disobey to change laws to make the world progress.
The United States, land of the free, home of the brave. Although, the United States may always be viewed as the perfect place to be and everyone is treated fair with no hatred this view is not always what it presumes to be. The United States, just like any other country has its issues, some which the government may try to solve but not always in the best way that would suit its citizens. Some of the laws passed, which may benefit a particular group of people may not always help the other party. These type of actions along with other activities that the government might perform, or other things they allow, may lead citizens to rebel against the system.
“You must be the change you wish to see in the world” These astonishing words that Mahatma Gandhi said made me suppose that Civil Disobedience is a Moral Responsibility of a citizen because when breaking certain laws, a citizen perhaps incorporate a good intention or a bad intention for breaking it. Citizens break the law occasionally to have their beliefs be heard so change can be assemble. Some ways that Civil Disobedience can be a Moral Responsibility would be breaking the law for the right intentions.
