The theme of identity and self-discovery is a common thread present in two different texts, J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" series and Flannery O'Connor's "Good Country People." Both texts explore the journey of the protagonist as they struggle to understand their place in the world and the complexities of their own identity. Through this journey, they encounter challenges and obstacles that force them to re-examine their beliefs and values and to question their own understanding of themselves and the world around them. While both texts explore this theme through different lenses and in different ways, they both show the importance of understanding one's own identity and the consequences of not doing so.

Harry Potter’s story consists of these ideals and principles as well, some which he had to learn in order to continue his journey. An example is the Christian belief that evil can be overcome with the power of love. In Harry Potter, love is the most ancient and powerful magic of all.

Religion and culture are engaged in a feedback loop where it is difficult to separate one from the other. Religion is often defined as “a system of beliefs, attitudes and practices which relate to the supernatural”. With the coming of sites such as Wattpad- where people can make their own stories, many took to already existing storylines of books and movies and gave their own plot twist and spiced it up, this primarily made the fan fiction genre so popular. We watch the movie “Lord of the Rings” and see Legolas sliding down steps on a shield while using his bow and arrow to kill Orcs, without doubting his skills. By us not questioning his actions nor inquiring how he can do the impossible, we are willingly suspending or disbelief. In my definition this means that you sacrifice realism and logic for the sake of enjoyment; you believe the unbelievable. The term is an essential part of theatre because as a narrator of any kind in theatre, you would want to create an allusion for the audience, which they believe without a doubt, like for “The Lord of the Rings”. The idea of suspension of disbelief is used in other areas of knowledge in order to understand and explain it, which is why it is essential
Exotic Animals Shouldn’t Be An Issue Exotic animal ownership is something that is highly debated by many people today and raises many questions. Should exotic animals such as: monkeys, tigers, lions and other such desert dwelling or jungle dwelling animals be allowed to be kept in captivity by humans. Or should they be able to just roam free in the wild? Many people would be inclined to say roam free because it is not “natural” for wild animals to be kept in captivity. Or they can potentially be very dangerous if they escape or turn on a person, they can also carry very deadly diseases.

Starting with the conversion of England, you can see how important religion was and how much the conversion changed the societies back in the medieval period. The Crusades were also important because the Pope and the Church used the idea of penance to get believers to fight for them and try to reclaim the Holy Lands. While the different inquisitions in Europe may not have been as large or as gruesome as people believe they still changed many lives and caused the deaths of many people because of suspicion over their religious beliefs. Believe it or not, religion, which is “the service and worship of God or the supernatural” (Webster) is far more common than the average Joe notices on the surface. A large amount of people wouldn’t see religious aspects in their everyday life except for those they practice and even then, most are limited to a single day if even that. With the proper lens it is possible to gaze deeper into everyday occurrences and see factors such as subliminal meanings and blatant themes that have religious values to accompanying them.
