Living in underprivileged neighborhoods creates a lot of stress on community members that predispose them to contracting diseases. Epidemiologist, Ana Diez-Roux, states that people living in disadvantaged neighborhoods have a 50% to 80% increased risk of developing heart disease. An improvement of health policies is required to for disadvantaged neighborhoods to
While circumstances can vary, an individual’s first choice is rarely to choose homelessness due to the inability to afford housing or other unforeseen circumstances. The support of friends, family, and community programs/shelters are first suggestions when a person becomes displaced. When these suggestions become inadequate, living on the streets is the next favorable/affordable option. According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, on a night in January of 2015, there were 564,708 people homeless in the United States (para 3).
Many would argue that allowing beggars, rough sleepers and public drug users to camp on our streets tarnishes Melbourne’s reputation as the ‘most liveable city in the world’. It makes the city shabby and unwelcome for visitors and regular users of the CBD. However, the fact that there is homeless individuals in the first place, opposes that statement. Think about it, if Melbourne were to be the ‘most liveable city’, then why is it that when we walk around the streets of Melbourne, there is an inevitable number of hopeless individuals despondently begging for help? These people should not be made to suffer any longer, especially at the hands of the people who are elected to protect their welfare.
Stakeholders are considered as valuable, because they have an affect or have an effect on prevention. In order for stakeholders to get involve, it is important to include action research so that they have an ideal of construction effective explanation to the issue being researched (Stringer, 2007). Furthermore, there are different stakeholders to involve in homelessness, because they can help create results to issue. Lasker and Weiss (2003) claim individuals that reside in a democratic societies can voice their issues that affect communities.
The social issue that I picked is homelessness. Homelessness is a real issue, even if we don’t always see it. Homelessness doesn’t just mean you don’t have a roof over your head, it means you don’t have food, a good education, a healthy lifestyle, or a warm place to sleep every night. Some people don’t think very highly about homeless people, they think that it's their fault that they are where they are in life. Homelessness is going to end up becoming a bigger problem.
Marching towards war. Why did World War I occur? The First World War (28 July 1914 - 11 November 1918) - one of the most large-scale armed conflict in the history of mankind.
Area of Conflict Homelessness can be understood in the perspective of conflict theory, which holds that capitalism is one the main reason for homelessness. “Capitalism is a social system based on the recognition of individual rights, including property rights, in which all property is privately owned” (Ayn Rand). There are many reasons why a person becomes homeless, an increasing number become homeless each year, with up to 5,000 people becoming homeless every year. Generally the experiences that lead to homelessness are determined by poverty and structural inequality.
When homelessness occurs, it takes a toll on both the homeless individuals and the community in which they reside in. According to the City of Colorado Springs (2013), it costs $57,760 to serve a single chronically homeless individual within our community. This cost includes medical treatment, incarceration, police intervention, and emergency response. Further research by the city suggests that price can drop as much as $30,000 annually when a homeless individual is placed in a permanent supportive housing unit (City of Colorado Springs, 2013). Looking away from the monetary value this problem brings, those who live within the homeless community are in need of support.

There are 18,000 homeless people in Memphis on any given day (according to Pat Morgan). Homeless is when a person without a home, and therefore typically living on the streets. Some are disabled and unable to work.
The purpose of this article was to portray how the american society functions. Day to day we see any things along the streets and one of which includes homeless people. Homelessness is a very sensitive topic because many do not really think about it too much. Thousands of us walk by and simply ignore them and think that someone else will help them out. Fact of the matter is that everyone basically thinks like that and this problem is never going to get better.
Homelessness is one the most ignored problems in the United States with citizen and politician. Homeless people are walked by and ignored. Nobody ever thinks that they will be homeless. Due to the economy, people live paycheck to paycheck making house payments very difficult. Most people will want to believe most homeless people are drug addicts or alcoholics, but most people will be surprise to know that it is no all true.
Throughout history, countries have been facing challenges which their own citizens are not well informed of the issues. Individuals in the United States place the blame for the manners of society many times onto minorities, which become the scapegoats. Due to the misinformation from the media and other sources, the solutions which stem from these thoughts are often misleading. I want to be able to inform individuals about the problems which plague the United States, but also create solutions for them. I want to put the spotlight on issues which are often forgotten.
The current government is creating a situation where more families along with their children are experiencing homelessness. An individual may be considered homeless when they lack permanent housing and have to stay in shelters, abandoned buildings or vehicles, on the streets, or in other forms of unstable situations. Many homeless people start out with jobs and stable residences, but then social and economic factors intervene, causing a rapid change in their living situation causing them to leave, and live on the street. Even with the population of homeless keeps increasing, the government does not aid nor benefit the homeless because they only worsen the homeless problem by having laws that go against homelessness, not helping mentally ill homeless population, and having the lack of subsidized housing.
The issue of homelessness in America has been evident since the early 1600’s. Across the country men, women and children spend their nights on the streets not knowing when or if they will ever find a permanent home. States and federal officials or city councils have tried to alleviate or at least reduce the number of homeless over the last several decades at a city, state or national level but it continues to be an ongoing problem. There is a multitude of factors that account for the growing homeless population that affects each state in the country differently. Though there are many contributing factors that contribute to the amount of people living on the street at any given night in the U.S.

We must remember that they are people too, and some time or another in life we all need help, even then homeless. In order to end or prevent homelessness, there are a number of things we must fix, the main thing being the affordable housing.
