Leaders come in all shapes and sizes, however, what gives someone the title of a good or bad is decided by the decisions they make and how those decisions affect others. Odysseus led the squadron of soldiers in the trojan horse and is a hero of the Trojan War and the king of Ithaca. Consequently, this gives him experience when it comes acting in difficult situations. This experience should guide him to choose correctly when being put in a tight spot.

The two stories share a few things in common, one being that the main character is depicted as a great leader. While both men are leaders, Odysseus is smarter, stronger, and undeniably better than Everett in most realms of human endeavor.
Odysseus was not a strong leader and ultimately contributed to the destruction of his own men because he has a weakness of pride and lack of honest communication with his men. Pride is definitely a weakness that affects Odysseus' leadership. An example of Odysseus being overly prideful was when his men and himself were at the Cyclops' land. After Odysseus' plan successfully got him and his men back to the ship, he began to taunt the blinded Cyclops. This consequently leads him to reveal his identity.
Odysseus’s Leadership In Homer’s famous epic, The Odyssey, Odysseus, the protagonist who spends the book traveling home after the Trojan War while encountering different obstacles along the way, shows many different admirable qualities. He shows that he is prepared to sacrifice his life to be a good leader for his crew after his success in Troy, and not only wants to return home himself to his family, but also wants his crew to be able to do the same. Though some might argue that he is a flawed leader, his positive traits outnumber his understandable mistakes. Though some might argue that Odysseus shouting at Polyphemus, saying “Odysseus… took your eye:/ Laertes’s son, whose home’s on Ithaka” (9.551-9.552) was a sign of foolishness, he had a right to this anger, as Polyphemus had just devoured many of his friends.
The Odyssey Essay Final Draft Imagine, after fighting in a brutal war for 10 years, it takes you another 10 years to be able to return home to see your family. I will inform you about Odysseus, a bad leader, who sacrificed many men through his selfishness, arrogance, and dishonesty during his journey back home. In Homer The Odyssey, Odysseus is not a great leader because he is selfish. He hides with his men in Cyclops’s cave. This is selfish because his men wanted to leave and go home, but he is curious about the Cyclop instead of his men's safety.
In Homer’s The Odyssey, Odysseus repeatedly shows that he is polytropos, for as Zeus says “There is no mortal half so wise”(3). Using his wits, Odysseus gets him and his men out of several sticky situations in the Odyssey, proving his leadership through his actions that save the lives of his crew member. On the other hand Odysseus’ streak of constantly outsmarting challenges, goes to his head, and unfortunately causes Odysseus to develop a hubris. His pride at times makes him arrogant, believing that he always knows best, which leads to the untimely demise of his crew. While Odysseus proves to be good leader by saving his crew from trouble with his wits, he is ultimately a bad leader because he refuses to listen to advice.
In the book called The Odyssey by Homer, it mainly follows the story of a king of a village called Ithaca, hundreds of years ago-This man, is named Odysseus. Odysseus goes through many adventures after the victory of the Trojan War. However, this is where Odysseus, is not being as strong as a great war hero and a king as he should be. Although Odysseus was seen as a very strong person, physically and mentally, he lacks the appreciation and the care of his crew throughout the trials and didn’t think through many of his actions thoroughly and how they would affect not only his crew but people around him.
A BOOK REVIEW OF GEORGE BROWNE’S “AN AMERICAN SOLDIER IN WORLD WAR I” In George Browne’s “An American Soldier in World War I,” the collection of letters written by Browne himself pertaining to the events happening during the First World War as he experienced it shows the struggles, challenges, and inward and outward battles that soldiers faced in the wake of the war. The letters revolve around Browne’s relationship with his fiancé Martha. In 1918, Browne was assigned to a tension-torn region in Saint-Mihiel where he became a part of a troop that was designated to operate as an offense and defense.
However, examples within the literary narrative of the Odyssey leaves the discussion open with regards to his leadership. Thus, the question of leadership supersedes the topic of Arete. Was Odysseus the ideal leader or did he portray undesirable leadership tendencies? The examples that will presented will illustrate that Odysseus hubris, risk taking prowess, and at times unwillingness to follow instructions often placed his crew in danger as he journeyed Ithaca.

In The Odyssey, Homer illustrates the journey home to Ithaca taken by Odysseus and his men. Unfortunately, Odysseus makes poor choices throughout his travels and his actions often do more harm than good. Two character traits define Odysseus and shape his poor leadership style.
In the book The Odyssey, the main character, Odysseus, is a man who is loved and respected by many. In the beginning of the book, we learn that Odysseus has left on a journey and, since it has been many years since his departure, many people assume that he has passed. On his journey, he portrays his many traits, not all of them being good ones either. Some of his good traits include his cunning, bravery, and hard work ethic. On the other hand, his negative traits are his excessive pride, immense curiosity, and rather large temper.
Never have I read a poem that carried such power and weight in its words than "Do not go gentle into that good night" by Dylan Thomas. Following suit with my other preferred poems, this is a relatively straight forward poem that has meaning clear as crystal. There is no single part of this poem that didn't leave me impressed, even the structure chosen was brave. To date, "Do not go gentle into that good night" has been the only poem to both give me goosebumps and tear up, which I was not a fan of in the middle of class. All in all, I have never felt a poem as strongly as Thomas's.

In Homer’s epic “The Odyssey,” Odysseus, the hero in the story, is trying to return home to Ithaca after his victory in Troy. On their way back home, Odysseus and his men hurt the cyclops, Polyphemus, and angered his father, Poseidon. With a god angry at them, Odysseus and his men had to overcome many obstacles. These obstacles led them to strange islands that had goddesses and dangerous creatures.
Throughout the story “The Odyssey” by Homer Odysseus, the main character counters countless amounts of trouble. As king and leader it is his job to keep his men save and get the job done. Odysseus does whatever it takes to keep his men unharmed, and more importantly, alive. All his crew and him dream about is getting back to their homeland, but first they have to pass the obstacles. Odysseus demonstrates good leadership qualities by doing whatever it takes to get the job done, using his advanced cunning abilities to trick his enemy, and constantly saving his crew from dangers.
