Love is an intense feeling of deep affection that everyone experiences once in their lifetime, but only a few can achieve it. The sensational feeling of love that humans have endured is a sign of comfort and expressed by being around someone or something that makes you feel a certain way through affection. However, it is blinding to humans because it alters an individual's behaviour when they are within this threshold. In the novel, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, love is evident through the characters, as it is their desire and dream to endure the fondness of the past within them. Moreover, Arthur Golden’s Memoirs of a Geisha demonstrates love through the main character, Sayuri, and the affects of it, is what creates who she is to

Sayuri, on the other hand, purses love in hopes to become close to her destined lover, deceiving behaviour that opposes her morals standards causing betrayal and transitioning into a geisha, results in her corruption. Overall, the characters within The Great Gatsby, deals with corruption through irrationality with hopes of love in the past, unjustifying actions that is caused by murdering an individual and achieving a dream that is unattainable to seduce an infatuated idea of love. Moveover, the character, Sayuri in Memoirs of a Geisha, manages moral depravity by pursuing love in hopes that it bring her close to her destiny, even though, it is impossible to express affection as a geisha, her misleading behaviour brings her closer to her desires and becoming a geisha motives her to seek love, despite her restricted or prohibited feelings. However, deep feelings of affection is always going to exist because it is something natural to the human process. The misinterpretation of love can change human behaviour by using our irrational subconsciousness over our rational conscious towards affection and thus, one must learn self-control and moderation in order not to fall into delusions over
