Music can empower you and influence your life inexplicably. It can change your life, goals, passion, mood, and/or ambition and make you see the world in a different light. Music has molded me into the woman I am today and pushed me to always be the best version of myself. It has motivated me to become the best person I can be, to accomplish my goals, and to be a strong independent woman. Music has had an impact on my behavior, my spirit, and my psychological health to the point where I wouldn’t be alive today if it weren’t because of music.
The passion within me to memorize the lyrics and learn the message behind every song is astonishing. Every song has a message and gives you a different point of view on certain situations. I was involved in an unhealthy relationship 2 years ago and I felt that I couldn’t let go of him. Music gave me a reality check when I heard a song called “my sister” by Aventura. The song is about a brother who is looking out for his sister who is being abused by her husband and so is trying open her eyes and advising her to leave him. I put myself in this woman’s shoes and I realized that I would be ashamed if my brother ever saw me in such an atrocious situation. “Go and count the hours he has made you happy, then count the years of pain and suffering,” was the line that gave me strength to let go of this toxic relationship. Music has helped me cover up the wounds of my relationships and gave me the strength to stand up for myself and value the woman I am. Through music I have learned to never settle for less than what you deserve and thus more I have set standards for relationships. Music has given me a sense of self-worth, raised my self-esteem, and molded me into the woman I am
