Love is hard but for a hopeless romantic it's the only reason for happiness. The novel,The Romantics by Leah Konen, can be read as an insight to what it is like to be a hopeless romantic. Being a hopeless romantic can be magical, life is full of dreams and wishes but break ups can be considered the end of all happiness for them. The Romantics really captures that aspect when main character Gael Brennan goes through a break up with girlfriend ,Anika, after finding out she was cheating on him with his best friend Mason for a week on page 13. Gael goes into hiding from the world letting out all his anger and sadness on his family and what was left of his friend group, instead of resolving it. They overthink the things that can be figured out later, and soon enough will realize that they don't want the things they thought they wanted or that they forced it to happen. One example is what Gael did this after his break up with Anika. On his birthday things didn't go as planned and he stormed off into the streets only to be hit by a bike with his ¨rebound¨ ,Cara. He went head first into what he thought would turn into a great relationship without really thinking of how bad of timing it was.
