There has been a growing murder investigation, but who is the convict? The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco is a novel about men traveling to a monastery, and upon their arrival, the monastery was interrupted by a suicide. After the suicide, the men start an investigation on who the murderer may be. William of Baskerville and Adso of Melk have been trying to answer the question everybody has been asking, who is the murderer?
In the 14th century, William of Baskerville, a renowned Franciscan monk, and his apprentice, Adso of Melk, travel to an abbey (a building(s) occupied by a community of monks or nuns) where a suspicious death has occurred. Using his powers, William begins to investigate what he suspects is murder. During the course of the investigation, more monks are found dead, which hinders with the investigation. William and Adso feel they have a denouement when they think they have figured out who the person behind all of this is. First, William describes how the second day is another sad day due to the death of another monk. Next, he describes how he noticed his enemy, Bernard Gui speaking with someone, as William was getting ready to call him forth to further help with the investigation of who is behind all the mysterious deaths.
