Recently, the idea of cheating has gotten much attention in the world of sports, entertainment, and politics. Cheating is the act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination. Many of the celebrities have been accused of gaining a competitive edge through the dishonest means. While cheating has mainly been publicly condemned, there are many who feel that it is right and it must be done. In their lives people feel as though cheating is considered the best thing to do and how it must not be justified under any circumstances. While Hester knew she had a husband she still laid down and had sexual intercourse with Dimmesdale. With Hester doing these actions she kept the secret to herself who the baby father was and who her husband was. With doing that it caused Hester a lot of pain because she was the only one who knew the secret (besides the two people she had relations with). This is called dramatic Irony, which is when the only people that knows things about the situation is the author, the characters that already know, and the reader. Dramatic irony is what is occurring in this book because it is explaining to us how Dimmesdale know he is the baby father, Chillingworth know he is the husband, and we also know these things. It is hard for Hester to keep lying about her marriage with Chillingworth so she meets Dimmesdale in the forest and told him about the marriage of her and Chillingworth. After Hester told Dimmesdale he broke down and she insisted that he forgive her. Without Hester cheating on Chillingworth then this book would just be plain and boring. It is similar to life without some people cheating on one another then they life won’t be nothing. If cheating is included into a relationship that is how you know it is real, because the two couples argue over the relationship being cheated on and that means that they both have love for each other, and it is the same with Hester and Dimmesdale, Hester had more love for Dimmesdale than Chillingworth and at one point Chillingworth got so upset that he took his anger out on Dimmesdale while he was his patient. It is not good that Hester cheated on Chillingworth but at one point it would be considered a good thing because of the love and affection that would be shown more in the relationship between the two
