Throughout our time in school the term Scientific Method has been used frequently. It was almost a universal term in all classes but it usually pertained to conducting some type of research. As illustrated in basic form the scientific method follows a series of steps as in purpose, research, hypothesis, experiment, analysis and conclusion. Although these steps are commonly remembered the scientific method is further explored by other steps and an important one is the scientific theory. The role of theory in a scientific research is to further explain an aspect of research through experiments, observations and procedures.
It is first important to understand the differences in the word theory. Theory to some may mean a hunch, as in you correlate different ideas together to explain something. A theory will provide concepts and notions that will lead to investigate important questions. It plays a big role of collecting research from a vast majority of analysis that will help explain a study. This ensures that the topic has been discussed in further detail and other people will fall under a better approximation. A theory must always be falsifiable which holds great importance. Its ability to be redone allows researcher's to agree, disagree or even expand on the topic. The last two topics compel a major role that a theory can always get better, through its ability to be redone or as foundation for research to begin. Scientists use theories to explain behaviors or predictions and although they are not stated as a fact, they have a solid base, which allows for study to build on.
