The Similarities Between Ron Swanson And Leslie Knope

My favorite show of all time that I love watching is Parks and Recreation. Two of my favorite characters in the show are Ron Swanson and Leslie Knope due to the dynamic and relationship they have between each other. They both have very heavy involvement in the show and give a lot of comic relief through what they have to experience while working in the parks department. Ron Swanson is a director in the parks department that loves the outdoors, hates the government, and has a very stubborn, distinct way of looking at life. Meanwhile, Leslie Knope is a deputy director who is a very prideful, government loving, determined person that always has a positive attitude. Upon first glance these two characters are very distinct from each other,

The first and most obvious difference between these two characters is their perspective when it comes to their job and government. Ron is someone who doesn’t want to do any work at his job as the director of the parks department and believes that the government shouldn’t get involved. Meanwhile, Leslie is someone who is always proactive doing her job wanting to implement new policies and loves working in government so much that she even runs and wins a spot as congresswoman in season 4 and later on becomes Governor of Indiana in season 7. Another distinct difference between these two characters is their attitude towards people and how they want to be treated. Ron is never wanting help from anyone because he always believes that the best way he can do a job is by himself, on the other hand Leslie is the complete opposite as she is always accepting help from others in the show and believes a job is better done when there are more people involved. The last difference between them is that Ron is very closed off, always talking down to people and demeaning them so he can feel like he has more power over them, but Leslie is once again the complete opposite since she is very open, always wanting to help anyone she can and trying her best to be nice to

While Ron does have a closed off personality to people, the people that he is close with he cares for a lot. These characters would be people km the show like April, Andy, and Leslie whom he has shown throughout the show that he would do anything for. In the same right, there’s Leslie who is similar in that way but goes a step further and extends this kind of loyalty to many more people in the department rather than a select few like Ron. The both of them have shared moments in the show where they look after each other and do nice things, like in the season finale how Leslie finds Ron a new job that she knows he will love and during Leslie’s wedding episode how Ron takes care of her wedding getting crashed by
