Well if you believe in the magic of Santa Claus, The Naughty List will remind why you’re never too old to believe in him. The Naughty List, which is based on the short story, “The Siqquism Who Stole Christmas” by Brian Keene, tells the story of two mobsters who are hiding out in an isolated cabin on Christmas Eve. Vince, who still believes in Santa Claus, decides to hang a stocking over the fireplace which his partner Tony disagrees with. Tony doesn’t believe in Santa Claus. Whether that’s Santa Claus or our faith in humanity, we can still believe in the magic of life. Sometimes we get so caught up with adulthood and the responsibilities that come with it that we forget about our imagination and childlike innocence. There is nothing wrong with reconnecting with that part of ourselves. Vince’s ability to never stop believing in Santa Claus is evidence we can hold on to things people have told us to let go of. Even when Tony makes fun of him for still believing in Santa Claus, Vince stands his ground and doesn’t back down. Vince reminds us to stick up for what we believe in and to never suppress our opinions when someone disagrees with them. Along with this strong message, The Naughty List is remarkably entertaining. The comedic timing along with Vince and Tony’s interactions work perfectly together to create this Christmas comedy. From the outrageousness of their situation to Santa Claus’ choice in gifts, this film is guaranteed to make you smile.
