You may ask what the dream is. It is the desire for financial freedom. Many Americans work numerous long days with extended hours in order to achieve this goal. What separates people who achieve the dream and people who do not achieve it? The American dream is real but what many found is that it is not attainable to everyone due to the lack of education and financial status within their upbringing. Some may grow up with connections to people that may provide opportunities for them, while others, may grow up struggling just to get by or find a way to get to school. A person's living conditions and environment, including how they grew up, can affect them drastically, whether in a good way or a bad way, how a person grows up affects them immensely. Many Americans' upbringings affect their education due to the official poverty rate in America being 37.9 million in 2021 according to poverty.ucdavis.edu, and about 4 percent of those 37 million people seek higher education according to www.statisisticsta.com/stat. While many Americans seek to further their education, only about 50 percent of them end up achieving financial freedom according to census.go. There is a big gap in the education system, not only in regard to college but also in the funding for primary and secondary education schools. The schools that are located in higher socioeconomic areas obtain much greater funding due to the parents earning more and therefore being able to fund the school better. In today's society, the leading cause for not obtaining a higher education is the cost of education and therefore Americans who have better upbringings usually receive the best education there is to offer and often choose to seek higher education because they are able to. The effects that are reflected from these financial variations between people of higher socioeconomic backgrounds and ones of people who are not as financially well off inevitably build barriers for the individuals who endure lower education. Not growing up with financial freedom and therefore not being able to afford college has a large impact on the individual's life as an adult. These individuals who are not able to receive higher education are left with low-paying jobs and health issues caused by overworking their bodies and not having the
