Recommended: New wave of feminism and our culture essay

“Feminism, the social, political, and economic equality of the sexes,” this quote is by the brilliant Chimiamanda Ningozi (Reisenwitz). The social construct of feminism has given it a negative persona. When people think of feminism, they think of bra burners, men hating, and “nasty woman,” as said by President Trump (CNN). What I hope to get out of in sharing the community I belong to with to the class, is that the social stigma of what a feminist is, is not what we stand for. For my presentation, some of the artifacts I could be (narrowing it down to one in my final paper) focusing on is the social construct of the feminist community, the activism (on a broad spectrum), and feminist figures for the community. I have some great sources for showing why my artifacts are important, and they can assist in making my research paper and presentation more reliable and show my audience that I know what I’m talking about. What I think I will have concerns pertaining to, with my paper, is how to connect it to a community level. The due date gives me a month to construct my paper perfectly, and I’m not worried about the timeline. What I believe one of my struggles will be, is bringing together all of my ideas into one paper. My mind runs wild with ideas and especially with the topic of feminism. Although I have a month to compose a research paper with all of my ideas, putting them down and constructing them perfectly on my paper may be a tad difficult. Feminism is seen as a political topic. It’s something that, if you bring it up at a family dinner, everyone gets in an argument about it. Which, in my opinion, I don’t quite understand why. I’m apart of this community whole-heartedly, so it does come up when I’m talking with my friends and family. When it does, sometimes, it’s seen in a negative light. What I do in these situations, is educated the people on the topic more with backup of resources, since I’ve composed a research project on it already.
