The Space Race was an intense competition and rivalry between the US and Soviet Union. The main goal was to get the first man on the moon. However both sides were on edge due to the current Cold War where both countries were afraid of the chance of nuclear bombings. The majority of the Space Race occurred during the 1960’s and early 1970’s. The two rival countries pushed each other to keep advancing in their research, and this event changed the outlook on space exploration forever.
