Because of this they created a military like society. Everything was controlled by their government. Sparta may have had weaknesses in their education but their were more positive than negative parts. The strengths of Spartan education did outweigh the weaknesses because they trained Spartan boys for war and battle, women were also trained, and Spartan babies, from birth, were expected to be healthy.
Any society that enslaves others deserves to crumble. Sparta was an ancient Greek city-state that valued military strength above anything else. They did not teach academics, farming, or anything else besides military tactics. The weaknesses of Spartan education outweighed the strengths because the Spartans were isolated, they forced families to separate, and they abused their children.
This made it so they could control what they knew and who they looked up to. They were also not allowed to participate in government until they were 30. In his Republic, Plato also criticizes oligarchy, saying of Sparta’s government, “A government resting on a valuation of property, in which the rich have power and the poor man is deprived of it… And then one, seeing another grow rich, seeks to rival him, and thus the great mass of the citizens become lovers of money.” In order to keep control of their economy while maintaining a strong military, the Spartans relied heavily on slaves. These slaves had no rights, and even the poor had very little say in their lives.
The women felt that the war was causing disruption and ruining the unity between the people. Rather than succumbing to the demands of the men, Lysistrata insisted and argued for women to take charge and restore Athens.
There were many cases of bribery in the government that wasn't taken seriously by the court.
