The Storm Runner Written by J. C. Cervantes ~The Summary~ The Storm Runner by J. C. Cervantes opens the reader up to the magical and mythical world of Mayan Mythology. An ancient prophecy unveils itself to thirteen-year-old Zane Obispo, a boy with a pretty simple and sweet life that's about to turn into a roller coaster. The boy dreads going to his new school, afraid of the mockery from others because of his limp and cane. However, this proves as the least of his worries when the boy and his dog ROsie discover a secret entrance to a volcano named "The Beast," kickstarting a prophecy with himself at the center. On the way, the boy befriends a shape-shifting girl named Brooks who explains to him the vast world of Mayan Gods that Zane had only believed to exist in fairytales. Prophesized to unleash Ah-Puch the Mayan god of death, Zane discovers his own ancestry behind the annoying limp he has. Zane's limp not only plays a role in discovering his ancestry but also provides some realistic traits to the fantastical world. The adventure takes the reader to places from Los Angeles to dangerous volcanos, and descriptive imagery helps the reader picture the many creatures and people that Zane meets. The book contains cliffhangers galore, nudging the reader to flip the page. However, this book looses one star because although Rick Riordan, an author famous for his mythological books, acknowlodges this book under the title "Rick Riordan Presents," the story somewhat proves similar to plots written by
