Do you remember studying so hard for a test and walking into that classroom with a wave of confidence? Do you remember going through the exam and answering each question with a stroke of your hand? Do you remember walking back into that same room a few days later, only to receive a failing score? We've all faced disappointments one way or another, but to reach our full potential and to grow as a person, we must learn to overcome these backlashes. A lot of people have taken hard hits, but the character who suffered the most was Earl. Throughout Earl's entire, pitiful life, he was disappointed over and over again. When we face challenges the rate of self growth dramatically increases. When the Texans in the Texas Revolution lost the battle of the Alamo, the disappointment was a great hit. This loss caused many spirits to be let down. But once the Texans were over to overcome the loss, they were able to defeat the Mexican army and ring out their famous battle cry, "remember the Alamo!" Just like the battles the Texans fought through, I face battles daily. When I was younger, I was disappointed by the fact that I could not grasp the notes on the piano easily. I became frustrated by my lack of understanding and thought about quitting multiple times. Finally, I decided that I was going to learn the notes my way; after many months of hard work, I had learned the basics and could play the piano! My disappointment was surely an obstacle, but as I pushed myself further, I was able to come out victorious. Disappointments are a part of life, and everyone must learn these hardships to evolve into the person we want to be; it's only human to make mistakes and let yourself down once in awhile.
