For instance, the natural sciences are plagued by “false analogies” which is “assuming that because two things are alike in one or more respects, they are necessarily alike in some other respect.” These are prevalent in disease sciences because only 8% of mice cancer studies translate to human medicine. This is caused by animals being limited to mimic the complex process of carcinogenesis. Thus, when society hears about these trials, society jumps to conclusions that this study will cure cancer even though the likelihood of the study actually reaching human trials is significantly tiny. Secondly, the human sciences experience the naturalistic fallacy which is “the tendency to believe that what is natural is good; that what is, ought to be” and the moralistic fallacy which is the belief “that what is good is natural; that what ought to be, is.” In moralistic fallacy, “The Western liberal democratic principles hold that men and women ought to be treated equally under the law, and therefore men and women are biologically identical and any study that demonstrates otherwise is a priori false”. This is most prevalent in the social sciences that leads to hostility and poor debates that create incorrect moral conclusions that hurt the scientific community. Therefore, suspension of disbelief when pushed to the extreme allows for logical fallacies surface and wreck mayhem on society. For instance when climate change deniers say “if it is warm outside during the winter there is no climate change” which is the logical fallacy of hasty generalization. Moreover, people get the wrong idea about data and facts that permit them to create incorrect
