In “The Diary of Anne Frank”, there are many symbols that are essential to the plot. Some examples of symbolism in this story would be Anne’s Diary, the Secret Annex, the Star of David, the Nazis and Meip. Anne's Diary is a particularly interesting symbol that symbolizes Anne's life, hope and freedom. An example of this would be when Mr.Frank was just handed the diary after the war. Mr.Franks said, “Anne’s diary. [He opens the diary and begins to read.] ‘Monday, the sixth of July, nineteen forty-two.’[To Miep] Nineteen forty-two.
