Para 1:

Katniss is an interesting character because of her empathetic nature that is visible when she volunteers as tribute and sings for Rue when she is dying. The author, Suzanne Collins, uses a variety of techniques to show this, including dialogue, and metaphors. In chapter two, the reaping happens and Prim’s name is called. Katniss is struck with fear, “Prim! Prim!” she calls in a strangled voice. The author's use of a metaphor (strangled voice), in this context, shows the urgency in Katniss. She …show more content…

This is seen when she nearly eats the “suicide berries” and is displayed through the symbol of the Mockingjay. The author uses symbolism/motif, and a doomed lovers’ trope to show this. This Mockingjay is seen throughout the movie as a motif of rebellion. The Mockingjay was a hybrid species created by the Capitol to spy on the Districts. However, Districts used this to their advantage to spread misinformation to the Capitol. As a result of this the Mockingjay became a symbol of freedom and rebellion. Mockingjays are also introduced when Rue dies as they carry on the song. The mockingjays (a symbol of rebellion), are singing Katniss’ song of rebellion. We can concur that the other districts would see this as a sign of gratitude. The author's purpose of
