While delivering his speech, Patrick Henry effectively utilizes his procedures in organizing the principles of his speech. Henry begins the speech in particular way in which he grasps hold of the audience’s attention and keep it. By stating that he has connections to his audience and that they are relevant Henry gains credibility and trust from his listeners. In his opening, Henry connects with his audience by praising the speakers before him “No man thinks more highly…”(Line 1) Henry reveals from the beginning that he has admiration for other people's pieces of work. By sateing this the audience will see Henry as a respectful human being. “We are apt to shut our eyes…” (Line 9) Henry uses words like we, to show the audience that he is one of them and that he experiences the same things in life as they do. Henry seeks freedom and connects to his audience through that search because he know that the audience wants the same thing. “...we Shall not fight our battles alone.”(Line 54) Henry connects through a want to his audience, that he stands on the same ground, and is hopeful for freedom as much as they are. Patrick Henry successively incorporated his organization abilities to appeal to his audience. From the beginning of his speech, Henry made a point to connect and show respect to his audience.
