The Tell-Tale Heart
“I heard all things in the heaven and in the earth. I heard many things in hell.” This is a quote from the caretaker who murdered the old man in his sleep. It is said that when psychopaths murder their victims the attack would be calculated and cold, absolutely passionless. Explain then these quotes: “Passion there was none. I loved the old man. He had never wronged me.” Passionless and regretful all signs point to mental illness with the added bonus that he heard voices and he blamed killing him on the old man's diseased eye. There is no question whether he committed the crime or not the argument is whether he should go get help or go to jail. Hearing voices, not really wanting to kill him at all and blaming the victim on his eye? This man needs help immediately prison, will not help him at all, it will probably make him worse. This man is innocent.
