The authors of the two texts “The Tell Tale Heart” and Deep and Dark and Dangerous effectively created suspense through the use of dramatic elements. The two texts use imagery to create suspense. Descriptions of characters fears and anxiety creates suspense in the two texts. Dialogue creates suspense in “The Tell Tale Heart” and Deep and Dark and Dangerous. Therefore “The Tell Tale Heart” and Deep and Dark and Dangerous both use the elements successfully to create suspense throughout the stories. The two texts use imagery to create suspense in “The Tell Tale Heart” it says “I undid it just so much that a single thin ray fell upon the vulture eye”. This uses imagery to create suspense by describing how cautiously he shined the light on the old man. In Deep and Dark and Dangerous, it said “She looked like a mad woman, scary and raging with anger.” This creates suspense by using imagery because it makes you wonder what's gonna happen next. In the text “The Tell Tale Heart”, it says “ With a loud yell, I threw open the lantern and leaped into the room.” This creates suspense because you don't know what's about to happen to the old man. In the story, Deep and Dark and Dangerous, it reads, “What if Mom and Dulcie were in the canoe with Teresa?” It is now that you learn that Dulcie knows more about Teresa then she says. This also shows how the use of dialogue is used to create suspense.
