Kindness is one trait every individual desires to be treated with by others. It is , after all, the state of warm welcoming that helps us assimilate in a society. Besides, no one likes the feeling of getting rejected by a particular group based on their different backgrounds, culture, physique and/or experiences. The only way that perhaps heels this rejection ,due to the difference's in an individual, are the acts of when an another individual presents and treats others with their acts of benevolence. This act then also sheds a new light on an other individual's perspective, and gives them the knowledge to assert what they think is right for them to obtain their objectives.

In “The Necklace” by Guy de Maupassant, Mathilde Loisel, who lives in France during the 1880s, attempts to transform her ordinary life into one of luxury. She attends a reception with her friend Madame Forestier's diamond necklace, but after losing it, she works to buy a new necklace, only to later discover the necklace she lost is fake. Through this experience, Mathilde learns to be content with what she has, and as a result, she realizes the flaws in her character.

The Mermaid’s Necklace Once upon a time there lived a mermaid couple in Limudore, a city of mermaids in the abyss of the ocean that was blue and crystal clear. The city is being ruled by King Albert, who is renowned of being humble and approachable. King Albert’s wife, Queen Mermalene, voluntarily checks on the status of the mermaids and mermen in their city. They are considered to be a happy perfect couple but they feel incomplete because they do not have any child at all. One day, an old woman came up into the kingdom to ask for the couple’s help.
At some point a friend of Madame Loisel lets her borrow a diamond necklace, with the following text in paragraph 48 being her reaction: “... her heart started beating with overwhelming desire. Her hands trembled as she picked it up.” Madame Loisel goes to even call this piece of jewelry, a “treasure”, and ends up putting so much value into this item based on solely appearance that she later struggles to pay off debts when she loses it. Mathilde just assumed that it was an expensive item and because of this, ended up putting a great price on it. Although she made a big deal about receiving such a thing from a friend, it only gave her temporary happiness at the ball.
One day Loisel came home and gave Mathilde an invitation to attend a ball but, to Losiels surprise she was very displeased for she had nothing to wear. In the end Mathilde borrows a necklace from a rich friend but, loses it. The couple then sacrificed their lives to repay her friend even though, to their surprise the necklace wasn't worth as much. However, she views that she is intended for a luxurious life, and, therefore, does not cherish what she has. She takes a step forward to her desires, as she was invited to a ball where all the upper-class woman would be, yet she was unhappy with the fact that she does not even have a stone to put on.
