“Win the crowd, and you will win your freedom.” This memorable line in the movie Gladiator becomes a central theme for Maximus throughout the film, due to the fact that Maximus loses everything that he holds dear. He is framed for the murder of the Roman Emperor, Marcus Aurelius, and as a result his wife and son are brutally murdered and his titles removed. From a revered Roman General, and then to become the property of another human being, independence completely revoked, Maximus starts his epic battle to regain his freedom once again and get revenge against Commodus the true murderer.
