The novel To Kill a Mockingbird serves as the basis for my topic. It's all about how inequality is shown to those who don't live up to society's expectations. We are drawn to the story's theme of family's significance and its connection to internal conflicts throughout. Different racial injustices exist, and even the presence of evil in unexpected places is widespread. To kill a mockingbird shows the moral truth in regards to an immense racial issue during the Economic crisis of the early 20s. People are treated differently, but it's not because they did something wrong but rather because of their race. In the quote “She was white, and she tempted a Negro. She did something that in our society is unspeakable: she kissed a black man. Not an old Uncle, but a strong young Negro man. No code mattered to her before she broke it, but it came crashing down on her afterwards.” - (Lee 231-232) We gather that not only are they being judged for their color and becoming set apart from the rest but just by her kissing a black man, she had done something in society that was wrong. By one kiss, it created a change in the town. Everyone knew, everyone judged, and everyone blamed the man with color. Racism interferes with character traits, abilities, lifestyles and even rights.
