Do you know how many great leaders became so prominent? Trust is the foundation of leadership and is how many leaders can show their dominance. “Law #6 or the law of solid ground” of the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership states good character builds trust and the foundation of leadership. For example, Gandhi became influential because he gained the people’s trust. Trust builds a leader's credibility and self-confidence, so he or she can gain a strong following. In To Kill a Mockingbird Atticus Finch, the protagonist stands out because he built trust within Maycomb and with Jem and Scout. While Atticus has to build trust in the courthouse, he also has to build trust at home with Jem and Scout. Atticus Finch exhibits leadership through trust in the community by …show more content…

Atticus brought the gun to his shoulder and then “Tim Johnson leaped, flopped over” (Lee 110). Johnson is a rabid dog who is nearing the kids on the street. The sheriff was called to take the dog down, but instead, Atticus shoots the dog and shows efficiency and calmness To continue, Atticus also displays leadership through connection. Connection is a relationship in which a person, thing, or idea is linked or associated with something else. Atticus shows connection when he speaks to the jury and tries to relate to them. On page 233 when Atticus is wrapping up his closing statement he turns to the jury and states in the name of “God, do your duty” (Lee 233). By wrapping up his statement like this, he appeals to the audience's emotions which is pathos. When one appeals to someone's emotions they become more credible and therefore more easily related. Also, the speaker's tone is more pleading because he wants the jury to listen to him. Furthermore, Atticus presents his leadership through character.
