THEME ESSAY Lupe Medrano was a hardworking girl who was no good at sports, but worked hard and then won the marbles tournament. Michael Jordan once said “I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. In the beginning of the story the theme of the story Marble is hard work. One way, she is hardworking is that right once she thought of the idea she got right to work and started to practice on her bedspread. Also, in the beginning she did 20 finger pushups, and I thought normal pushups are hard enough. Lastly, in the beginning she squeezed a rubber eraser 100 times. Then after that, Lupe practiced against her brother and easily beat him, then played her brothers friend Alfonso-who is supposed to be a champ- and beat him easily. Also the story said “Lupe worked so hard that one day, While she was drying dishes, her mother asked why her thumb was swollen. Then later on when she got to the park once she took her glove off someone asked “How can you play with a broken thumb,”that has to take hard work to have that much muscle. If people think you have broken thumb you have to be a hard working
