Cruel and violent acts can be a very powerful type of control making someone obey orders. In the memoir, Night, Elie Wiesel was a victim and a witness during the Holocaust of these unjust acts of violence. While only fourteen, he goes through the cruel treatment and violent acts performed upon innocent people. Elie Wiesel uses mood and similes to describe the theme of how violence controls a person to make them commit inhuman acts they would never act upon on their own.
