The S.W must acknowledge that Ashley at her age experiences new sensations and feelings. She might place a great importance on what other people may think of her. That's why she might be reluctant and hesitant in disclosing certain aspects about her existing situation. We don't know if Ashley discussed her concerns with her mum or other family members, so she needs to be approached sensitively , as she might feel ashamed. She might be afraid that she might be disbelieved by Jackie or her extended family, therefore there is a risk of emotional abuse that might arise as a consequence of her disclosure.
Macro social work promotes human development and social justice through work with communities and organizations. It comprises of a wide variety of knowledge and skills that enables workers to lead and contribute to highly performing public and private sector organizations that focuses on the critical social issues with diverse population. As such “diverse population is a variety of people which include several characteristic against what one may deem as the norm or majority.” Macro social work is centered on investigation of larger scales to social problems and for the development and implementation of social interventions that aim at effecting positive change at the community, state, and national levels (Birkenmaier and Berg-Weger 2007).
As I enter the major of Social Work with intent to become a school counselor, I plan to educate myself in a numerous amount of ways to be able to help the future generations. Children are the future. Each person is born into a different background, this upbringing has a grand impact in their childhood and what kind of person they become. I intend to understand and create a safe environment where students know they have someone to rely on. Social work gives you the comprehension to understand both the persona and the environment of an individual.
Rational for the observations The rational for using these observations retrospectively is to make sense of the whole person Amy’s life history, looking over her notes, why had she not engaged historically? Why the resistance? I wanted to understand how and why this was happening not just respond to the immediate crisis, rehouse and decontaminate her home for the behavioural pattern to be repeated. This method allowed me to explore theories of human growth and development and evaluate them with criticality (Monette et. 2014).
Therefore, when I first met my supervisor named Zadock and he told me that there were more than 200 children at the children home, I assumed that there would be a large amount of work to complete before the school year started. However, Zadock explained to me that the first couple weeks I would be observing and supervising the children during their holiday program. At first, I was a little disappointed because I wanted to get an insight and a better understanding of what the social workers at Noah’s Ark do. He further explained that I needed to form relationships and get to know the children before the school year got started so it would be beneficial on both sides. Furthermore, as I am currently observing and getting know the children I am excited to learn and see
In most careers professionalism is a valuable trait to have in a person’s work ethic. Social work is most certainly the kind of career in which professionalism is highly important. There are a variety of behaviors that depict professionalism. Some examples of these behaviors are appearance, demeanor, competence, ethics, verbal and writing skills, and many more. Throughout the social work program, the importance of professionalism has always been stressed, and there were several assignments that were given to us in order to apply professionalism in our field practicum and to help prepare us for our career.

The career that I am considering as a future possibility is the clinical social worker. Clinical social work is a specialty practice area of social work which focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental illness, emotional, and other behavioral disturbances. These practices can happen individually, in a group and/or in family therapy, which is common treatment styles. Social workers that provide these services are required to be licensed or certified at the clinical level in their state of practice. To become a licensed clinical social worker student who did not earn a bachelors of social work, must complete a traditional masters of a social work program that typically takes two to four years depending on whether a student attends full-time or part-time.

According to the National Alliance of Social Workers (NASW), social justice is one of the primary ethics which social workers must uphold. Empowerment is a social work theory rooted in social justice, with a main goal of reducing social inequalities through community building and redistribution of access to power. The basic premise of empowerment is "to change the environment, change yourself" (Van Wormer & Besthorn, pg. 212). However, in order to change one 's environment or self, there must be options available and opportunities for individuals to have control over their own decisions. Empowerment theory also aims to build community through citizen participation, collaboration and engagement among community members.
It directs people to acquire knowledge to identify and use the resources. Social work studies individual problems as well as social issues which create hindrance to people in their walks of life. Social workers employ an adequate skills, techniques, strategies, principles, and activities at various system levels, for maintaining a system or for system change efforts. Social work practice makes us understand various forms of therapy and counseling, group work, and community work; policy formulation and analysis; and advocacy and political interventions. Social work practice is aimed at increasing people 's hope, self-esteem and creative potential to confront and challenge oppressive power dynamics and structural sources of injustices, thus merging consistently e the micro-macro, personal-political dimension of intervention.
The word ‘need’ here emphasizes the fact that social workers must know these theories so as to be able to be actively involved in the practice of clinical social work. These theories include such as; a. Developmental theories; Piagets theory of development, Eric Ericksons psychosocial theories and so on. These theories help direct social worker practitioners to comprehend why someone may be doing something at a particular stage in life. For example, why male babies are jealous of their fathers and want their mother’s attention all to themselves. b. Personality theories; they explain human behaviour or why certain persons may not act like the others.
THE APPLIED SOCIAL WORK MODEL The social work model that can be applied to this case is the Social Ecological Model. Socio-ecological models were introduced after the First World War by Chicago School sociologists as a reaction to the narrow scope of human developmental research. This approach has increasingly become a focus in social work practice over the years as it integrates both treatment and reform by emphasizing the developing transactions between persons and their physical and social environments.
