The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle is mainly about a girl and her time sailing across the Atlantic Ocean to meet her family in Providence, Rhode Island. The girl’s name was Charlotte Doyle. She was thirteen years old and wanted very much to be a lady. This book took place in 1832 beginning in Liverpool, England, then on the boat, and finishing up in Providence, Rhode Island. At the beginning of the book, Mr. Grummage walked her to the boat. The boat was called “Seahawk.” As they were walking, Charlotte Doyle asked where they were going to Mr. Grummage. The only way to join the crew was to climb up to the royal yard and back down and stay alive. The crew figured out that she was trying to help them and taught her everything. They were patient with her, helped her, and worked with her. Captain Jaggery wanted her to fail and made her do hard stuff. Suddenly, there was a hurricane. The crew frantically worked. When Charlotte was climbing, she saw Zachariah. And, when the hurricane was done she saw a dead Mr. Hollybrass killed with her knife and had her handkerchief in his hand. Because it was her items, she was accused of murder and was put in the brig. Charlotte saw Zachariah down there. Then, on her trial, no one stood up for her and she was to be hung in less than 24 hours. Charlotte knew she did not do it and found out that Zachariah did not do it and figured out that Captain Jaggery had probably done it. She needed to get the key to his safe where he kept his weapons. Charlotte planned it out where Mr. Keetch had somehow jammed the wheel and was having Captain Jaggery fix it so his cabin was free to get into.
