The Truth behind Friar Laurence Friar Laurence is to blame for the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet as shown in various pieces of evidence found throughout the play. Friar Laurence made poor decisions that caused their deaths but not all of his decisions were the primary cause. The Friar is blameworthy for many reasons such as marrying two young teenagers that should not have been, Juliet’s death plan and the letter that caused Romeo death.
