Have you ever told a lie that would've saved you from losing a friend, or a lie that kept you from getting a whooping from your parents? Which lie do you think is worse? Well lying is always bad, in any case, from small white lies to big harmful lies. Yes, a little white lie is not the worse thing a person can do but it can still do damage. Every lie will have a negative outcome. Which brings me to my point of lying always being bad.
According to the article, "The U.S. Political Campaign: Lies, Lies Lies," there are hundreds of lies a person can tell but they all fall into at least one of three categories. These include lies to protect others, lies in the interest of the liar, and lies to cause harm. While protecting someones feelings of getting hurt may not be as bad as making a lie to cause harm to someone, they are still bad in their own ways and will have a negative effect. For example, a small white lie may be telling someone they look good in that dress when really they don't. This will protect their feelings, but the negative effect of this is them now walking around not looking their best. You could just simply be politely honest with them and it may hurt their feelings but at least you'll know you were just looking out for them. I believe this is better than having to hold yourself accountable for lying to them.
