The Harsh Punishments of World War I World War I, also known as the great war started after the Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated, this was the main agitator that started the great war, the assassination was followed by the domino effect. Over 30 nations were involved in World War I and there were two main sides of the war, Great Britain, France, The United States, Russia, and Italy (The Allied Powers) who fought against Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire ( The Central Powers). After the war nations agreed for this to never happen again. The Treaty of Versailles was created but helped cause WWII by treating Germany harshly, reducing their army, and by taking away their territory.
Bloody, long, and brutal are a few words to describe World War I. World War I was a hard fought, 4 year battle between many several countries. So, what was the main reason behind this war? There are many different underlying causes to this.
First is the worst, Second is the best, Third is the one with the treasure chest, but fourth…fourth is the one with the war guilt clause. The victorious countries in WWI included Great Britain, Russia, Italy, Japan, later the United States, and France (which were called the Allies) were very angry and upset and needed a country to blame for all the death and destruction that was caused by the war. In the early 1900s, Social Darwinism and nationalism ideology played a large role in how nations competed for land and power. The competition was a motivation for the desire to conquer and obtain land, therefore increasing the population within the country’s power. This increased population allowed for more people for trading, marketing, serving in the military, and other important aspects of European life at the time that increased the economic and political status. World War I, which broke out in 1914, was mainly caused by the desire for colonization, unbalanced militarism, and the conflict and treaties between alliances.
World War 1 was an atrocious war that caused millions of deaths and hundreds of billions of dollars in reparations. World War 1 lasted from 1914 to 1919 and rudimentarily, was the fight between the Allied powers and the Central powers. The Allied powers consisted of France, Great Britain, Russia, and Belgium while the Central powers consisted of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire. All countries had some participation and damage done throughout World War 1, and the countries who started the war may be obscure. However, there are some countries that can especially be picked out for their contribution and cause for the war.
World War One had many legacies after it ended. A legacy that the war left was power and authority in different countries effect after the war. The powers were the Nazis in Germany, the fascist in Italy,and the Bolsheviks in Russia. After the war many people were looking for hope,which made them join groups to make them feels apart of something.
World War I, known as the war to end all wars at the time, had massive impacts on the U.S. Soldiers that were being sent off into the battlefield not knowing whether they would return home dead or alive. Soldiers fought, slept, and lived in trenches for the entirety of the war. Although, soldiers were not the only ones experiencing poor conditions during the war Citizens, and even countries, were affected by the war in various ways. Citizens in the U.S were stripped of their right of freedom of speech under the first amendment. WWI caused a large epidemic in the U.S regarding health safety.

In an effort to mitigate the mistakes made in previous conflicts, the Army had a plethora of crucial decisions to make as they rapidly geared up for the entrance into World War I.
I also believe that the soldiers who were not in the front lines were just as brave to be there to support our country. Even those who are peacetime veterans are important and should be honored just the same. Peacetime veterans are home and get to be around their family while knowing that at any time they could be called in to fight. They fought so we don't have to walk around with the fear that at any moment we might lose our life or the lives of the
Moreover, our countrymen had a choice to become anything they wanted, but they chose to defend our great country and freedom we so graciously enjoy. Now is not the time to dismiss such bravery not to mention commitment. The people of the United States need to stand by our soldiers

When many people think about WW2, they think about all the horrific things that happened. Many people forget the good that people did, and what happened after the war ended. Many people that fought in WW2 share memories and stories of the good that they did for their country, all the opportunities that they got from the war, and the people that they encountered.
In the United States, serving in the military is seen as a model of true patriotism, and rightfully so. Service members train for 10 weeks in their transition from civilian to a soldier. They train to be able to endure all the hardships that may come their way. Service members have to be in the best physical shape to serve and because of all that they do, they are thought of as brave and selfless people. Service members make extreme sacrifices to defend our country and act selflessly by doing so; it is fitting that they are seen as heroes by many Americans.
World War 1 was known as the first modern war, it caused many improvements in military strategy and weapon technology. These improvements included trench warfare, machine guns, tanks, and radio communication. Many of these improvements are still used in wars today. World War 1 was one of the most destructive wars of all time. The fighting between the Central Powers and the Allied Forces caused over 16 million casualties.
