Anthem Setting: ● The setting takes place in a community where the people have limitations on what to do and think and the Uncharted Forest. The Uncharted Forest is an unexplored forest where everyone fears to venture the forest. It is because it hasn’t been researched and mapped out. Symbols ● The names of the people in the community, such as Equality 7-2521, symbolize the individual identities of each person; individuality. The words and numbers represent only person’s identity unlike today with many people with the same names. ● The Uncharted Forest represents freedom and curiosity. ● The light symbolizes enlightenment of one's level of knowledge. This representation of the concept of loyalty is shown Equality 7-2521 realizes the treasures that he has in procession. He vows to never give away or share his treasures with others. He protects his treasures, fearing that they will be taken away from him. His three treasures are his thought of mind, his will, and his freedom. Of all the three treasures he owns, he confirms that his freedom is of the most value to him. He has his thought of mind and will inside of him. These are the things that are inside of everyone already and as age comes, one’s will and thought of mind get stronger.
