Ancient civilizations thought dreams to be portals for acquiring wisdom from the gods. Sigmund Freud suggested that dreams were the “royal road to the unconscious.” Freud was the father of dream research. He said Psychoanalysis is one theory for why we dream, but he didn’t have much understanding of the REM and non-REM cycles. Sigmund, psychoanalyst, said that our brain defends us from disturbing thoughts and memories by suppressing them. He also thought that we are bordering on entirely driven by unconscious desire. When Freud was asked the question we all want to know, he would reply that dreams are the secret outlet for suppressed desires. He used dream analysis to depict the underlying language of dreams. Every night while we sleep, we
