In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, there are many times Shakespeare. creates “mirror scenes” to show that even in similar situations, even a small difference in circumstances can change the outcome. Some of these situations include when they were at the party and asked the nurse about each other. Also, they both often went up to the Friar. seeking help. Lastly when they both kill themselves because Romeo though Juliet was dead. In act 2, scene 3 Romeo says “I pray thee, chide me not. her I love now doth grace for grace and love for love allow. The other did not so.” This quote shows Romeo telling the friar that he is no longer in love with rosaline and now loves Juliet. And in act 3, scene 5 Juliet exclaims “Ancient damnation! O most wicked fiend! Is it more sin to wish me thus for sworn, or to dispraise my lord with that same tongue which she hath praised him with above compare so many thousand times? Go, counselor; Thou and my bosom hence forth shall be twain. I’ll to the Friar, to know his remedy. If all else fail, myself have the power to die.” This quote foreshadows the scene where the lovers commit suicide. Lastly, they both kill themselves because Romeo thought Juliet was dead, so he drank his poison, in turn leading Juliet to stab herself after she learns he had committed suicide. In act 5, scene 3 Romeo says. “Come, bitter conduct, come, unsavory guide, thou desperate pilot, now at once run on the dashing rocks thy sea-sick weary bark! Heres to my love!
