Have you ever asked yourself how many times do you lie a day? It probably takes you a moment to think about the answer because we all lie so many times in a day. It is easy to understand that lying is the common behaviour of humans. We are all taught that lying is not a good thing to do because lying can destroy everything such as relationships, trust, etc. However, lying is not always bad because it helps people avoiding punishment; and in some situations, lying is harmless. In The Ways We Lie, Stephanie Ericsson writes about many different types of lie as well as the examples how poeple use them in daily basic life. Throughout the essay, Ericsson disscusses about multiple ways that humans lie to each other. The first type of lie that she mentions is called the white lie. The white lie assumes that telling the truth make everything worst and it causes more damages than lying. The liar tells the white lie because they think telling a lie is the best for the lied to. I still remember once when I lied to my mom about my grades at school. When I was a freshman in high school, I stayed in my room and played games which meant I did not care at all about school as well as my homework so I got really bad grades is easy to understand. My mom always expected that I would get really high results because she though I stayed all day in my room to study for final exams. She asked me what my GPA at that time and I told her I got straigh A. She was really happy at that time, but later the school office called her and talked about my bad grades. I was so afraid at that time but she was not mad at me at all but she told me not to ever lie to her again because lying was a bad habbit and she also understood that I did it because I did not want her feel sad about me so she forgive me that
