The West was a diverse region in different ways. The west covered a large amount of land and the landscape was different in each region. There were plains, mountains, deserts, the coast and the forests of the northwest. Another way the west was diverse was the different cultures of people that had migrated to the west. The white settlers that went west were from different European Nations. There were also Indians still living in different regions of the West. In California there were Mexican immigrants, Chinese, and African-Americans. All the different cultures, the landscape, and the vast size of the west made it a diverse region.
