Teamwork in Children’s Literature By using teamwork everyone achieves more. Learning the importance of teamwork and helping one another is a very important aspect in children’s literature. Two works of literature that show the significance of teamwork and friendship are “The Wind in the Willows” by Kenneth Grahame and “Charlotte’s Web” by E.B. White. Both of these novels show how the community can work together to achieve a common goal. These novels also show how friends are there to support each other in tough times and how everyone has different strengths which can be used to achieve a common goal. Therefore, these two novels show that by working together you can achieve anything you put your mind to. In “Charlotte’s Web” all the characters work together to achieve a common goal of saving Wilbur’s life. To accomplish this task all the barn animals use their strengths to come up with a creative solution to their problem. The barn animals must be creative and resourceful to achieve their goal. The three characters help guide Toad in making the right decisions. In the novel Toad gets in trouble a lot for his impulsive behavior. Toad receives many fines and even gets put in jail, but he does not learn his lesson from these punishments. Instead Toad learns how to be a better person though the support of his friends. His friends teach him how to be a better person. At the end of the novel Toad’s friends encourage him to throw a party. Rat, Mole, Badger help him plan the party and make sure that Toad does not brag about himself the whole party. This shows that friends are there to help you and provide encouragement.
