The witches and Lady Macbeth are not to blame for Macbeth’s downfall because they might have influenced it onto him, but it was Macbeth’s decision to do the act that led to his downfall. He killed the king because from what he heard from Lady Macbeth and the witches.
He could’ve easily avoided it and decided to ignore the witches’ prophecies by listening to
Banquo’s warning “darkness tell us truths, Win us with honest trifles, to betray's In deepest consequence” (1.3.126-128). In addition, Macbeth could’ve either ignored Lady Macbeth’s persuasion on the king or not told her about the witches in the first place.
Macbeth’s actions and doings paved his path to a tragic collapse because of his insatiable greed, continuing ambition, and unquenchable curiosity. Macbeth used his insatiable greed to kill the king and to get what he wants. Macbeth also used his continuing ambition throughout the story, he got persuaded by his wife, which activated his ambition and got him to kill the king.
Macbeth’s unquenchable curiosity causes the whole thing by leading him to the witches’
