Donald McKinley Glover is an American actor, writer, producer, director, comedian, rapper, singer, and songwriter (Wiki). He performs as a stage artist under the name Childish Gambino. Gambino debuted his first musical project November 15, 2011 with the release of Camp, the album received mixed reviews by critics although fans gave the album great reviews. After the album release Gambino took nearly three years to release Because The Internet his second studio album. Which was inspired by his observations on how technology has changed social interactions (and not necessarily for the better).
Because the Internet is more than just an album, it’s a study of Gambino’s self. Gambino released a screenplay to accompany the album, the screenplay follows …show more content…

Gambino raps, “Got a glass house in the palisades, that a-k-a/ white hood, white hood, (okay-kay-kay),” referencing Socrates, with a pause to recognize his own Fiskar (the expensive brand of electric car).‘The Worst Guys’ Gambino played “dial up” to Göransson and said,” this is really cool, Let me do something with these sounds.” Göransson took the sound and “A couple of hours later the beat for worst guys was done.” (Revolt). Some of the subjects rapped about in the song are, being rich. As Gambino raps about having Courtside tickets, and spending 8k on a bath. As mentioned, it is revealing consider his lifestyle, but he doesn’t go into …show more content…

Dial Up is also a Childish Gambino instrumental track from the same album Because The Internet and lists before ’The Worst Guys’ acting as a kind of intro when the album is played in order. As an intro it’s quite long, but as a standalone is short at 44.5 seconds, it’s also very simple featuring 3 simple synths, a sine/square (Genius).
The moods over the album vary. The adorable “Pink Toes” features Jhene Aiko and captures an odd romance between a drug dealer and his girlfriend, who's riding along. “Flight of the Navigator” is like a Frank ocean song Gambino sings solemnly, “Who would have thought this/We almost lost it/ when you lie inside darkness it's hard to see”. The album alone does not give the audience much to hold on to Gambino wanted this to be a full body work of art accompanied by a Screenplay and a movie. These two things combined allowed Gambino to give the fans an experience they probably will never get again from any
