On Saturday July 19, 2014 I along with my family and friends attended the 40th Anniversary Tour in Charlotte, North Carolina at the PNC Music Pavilion. This concert featured two legendary rock bands, Kiss and Def Leppard. Also performing was Kobra and the Lotus. This was such an amazing experience because it was the first tour that these two bands have done together and being able to see both of them at the same venue was surreal. This concert was also a very meaningful one for everyone in attendance because Kiss was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2014. Almost every fan in attendance left their seats to do whatever business they needed to do before the main act took the stage. As soon as the twenty-minutes were up the lights went out and on the projector screen it showed the band members of Kiss making their way on to the stage. The crowd’s reaction was outstanding; a giant roar came from the crowd when they saw them on the screen. Then there was a huge cloud of smoke, and fireworks exploding on the stage. Kiss then appeared as they were jumping around through the smoke, as they started playing Psycho Circus. It was unbelievable to be able to watch this band perform; the energy they played with was incredible. Kiss definitely knows how to make a concert special. The band Kiss used several phrases during the concert, meaning the songs contained a short passage of music. Gene Simmons also known for his stage persona “The Demon” was the bass guitarist and also a vocalist in the band. Simmons was definitely my favorite Kiss performer; he was because I was familiar with him due to my dad always talking about him when I was growing up. He performed his trademark by flashing his incredibly long tongue. Paul Stanley also known as “The Starchild” manned the rhythm guitar and led the band in vocals. Eric Singer known as “The Catman” was the man on the drums. “The Spaceman” Tommy Thayer also contributed on the vocals as well as being the bands lead guitarist. The fans in the crowd were going “nuts” the whole time, especially when they started playing Rock and Roll All Nite.
