Fathers should be supportive and go easy on their own families. These are the very common and natural things that fathers do, which is work, earn money for their families, and take care of their children and wives. Fathers also have to teach manners and praise or scold their children when children do something good or bad. Many fathers spend a lot of time with their families and respect their wives because if fathers respect their wives, wives also respect their husbands, and children can feel comfortable and be respectful to everyone. I think that Babi is the best father in the novel because he has never been violent to his family, and he loved Laila and Fariba until he died even though Fariba hated him about sending two sons to the war. He took care of Laila very well especially her education. Babi believed that women should also have a good education the same as men. He wanted Laila to have enough education; thus, he tried to work hard and planned to leave Kabul and go somewhere Laila could have enough education. After the news of the sons’ deaths, Fariba had an illness and was getting worse. Babi stayed with Fariba and took care of her because he really loved her though Fariba refused to leave Kabul while the war was at the worst at that time. Babi lost his job once, but he found another job and spent a lot of time with Laila and Fariba. My father made a lot of time to spend with my family like Babi. I really like for my father to spend time with our family.
