In the novel, Unbroken, author Laura Hillenbrand did an excellent job displaying main character, Louie Zamperini 's’ resilience throughout the story as he was a prisoner of war. In short, Louie had an amazing trait of being able to take a unfortunate situation and turn it around to success. He was constantly getting in fights and not doing well in school.

The theme in the novel “All Fall Down”is not to judge people without knowing the full truth about them. One way the reader is led to the theme is by observing the conflict and resolution of the story. Another way the reader is led to the theme is by the authors use of figurative and descriptive language that makes the reader feel different feelings towards the scarred man. Finally, the character development helps lead us to the theme throughout the way Alli Carter makes people feel towards the main characters Grace and Dominic the Scarre Man. Responsibilities and commitments are key things in a person’s life. In Ernest J Gaines’ novel, A Lesson Before Dying, Grant Wiggins evolves as the story goes on by learning to accept his responsibilities. In the beginning of A Lesson Before Dying, Grant Wiggins struggles with accepting his responsibilities.
A Lesson Before Dying written by Ernest Gaines is set in a small town called Bayonne, Louisiana. Lesson Before Dying was written in the late 1940s around the period when segregation was taking place, where people were treated based on the color of their skin. Grant Wiggins, a school teacher, has been asked to persuade Jefferson into feeling like a human. Despite the fact that Jefferson’s execution date was set, Grant has to go through many complications to make a hog into a human again.
In any novel there is multiple parts that make up and define how the novel will go, such as if the character will be good. There is always a storyline to follow and from that storyline there are many different themes that give the novel character. In the novel Kindred by Octavian Butler there are multiple themes laced into the text that make the novel what it is. For example, throughout the story there is a huge underlying theme that involves Rufus Weylin, a main character of the novel and how the environment shapes him into the man he is at the end of the novel. Kindred starts off with Dana, a black woman, who by some mysterious means is sent back in time, to the days where her ancestors were alive and enslaved by Tom Weylin, a southern plantation
My school would greatly benefit from the application of an honor code as long as such a code is approved by the student body. Such an honor code would bring about students to reconsider their actions before cheating on a test. This is because an honor code has the ability to create a culture among students which discourages cheating. Also, including harsh punishments within the honor code would dishearten students from cheating out of fear of potential consequences. Schools which have not benefited from honor codes are very different from Classical, and therefore do not prove that an honor code would be ineffective at Classical.
The California Common Core Standard I chose was Reading Standards for Foundational Skills K-5 on pages 17 and 18. I specifically chose first grade students. This grade level is appropriate for my teaching area when I begin to student teach and for the classroom I currently work in. First grade students should be able to identify the key components of a sentence (the first word, capitialization and ending punctuation) on a piece of paper. Phonological awareness is important for students to learn early on.
All three of these themes played a big part in these two stories, so comparing and contrasting the two won’t be all that hard. The first theme I will discuss is wealth because in my opinion it was the most used out of all the themes present. There
