F. Scott’s Fitzgerald’s novel, “The Great Gatsby” and his short story, “Absolution” share similar themes, symbols, and character relations. In the beginning of the short story it starts off telling us about how the boy Rudolph focuses around his father and religion, in the Great Gatsby it starts off quoting some advice from his father explaining the divisions of the higher classes. Also in the story when the priest talks about amusement parks and big parties and this compares to the cover of great gatsby. Both Rudolph and Nick live a simple, boring life. Rudolph also has very poor living conditions just like Nick does when he comes to West Egg.
