Have you ever met somebody that has regretted doing something that they might not think they regret doing? Regret happens all the time but how people handle it is always different. Not everybody handles it the same. Even some of Jesus’ disciples have regretted things, such as Judas. Judas was the disciple that betrayed Jesus and turned him over to the Romans to be killed. Regret and how people handle regret is the theme of the story Ambush by Tim O’Brien, and by connecting it to the numbers of people who regret leaving their faith in Jesus and abandoning it and how they handle life differently today.

Some even regret going to war. In the story Ambush the main character is a Vietnam War veteran telling stories to his daughter. He tells the one of him throwing a bomb at a man and killing him. Afterward, he regretted throwing the bomb at the man and killing him. After killing him he keeps reliving the memories this time he does not kill him. He lets him walk by and they smile at each other. “ It occurred to me then that he was about to die. I wanted to warn him.” (O’Brien 813) That is something that really changes people’s life. Regret also changes people’s life. Everybody has done something they regret doing. Maybe they do not know what is it or they do not want to admit it but everybody has at least regretted something once. Regret is a very powerful thing in life. First, they start most of the time by stopping going to church and stop praying to him. Jesus died on the cross for us to live forever. Why would you not want to live forever? I think once people die they will regret not following Jesus during their life. Jesus always loves us so it is never too late to join him in communion. Even if you have broken some commandments he will be able to forgive you if you think that is the reason you can not come back to the church. It does not matter what you have done in the past. “I was afraid of him afraid of something and as he passed by me on the trail I threw a grenade that exploded at his feet and killed him.” (O’Brien 812). Even if have killed someone even if it was for your job God will love and forgive you. The power of the Holy Spirit and God with you will make you a stronger person than without them. You might not realize it but I promise you it will make you a stronger and better person if you accept Jesus and God back into your life. Around 83% of the world believes in God. It doesn’t matter what religion is it as long as you believe at this point and it is the one true God that your religion is worshiping. Catholics and Lutherans do not all believe in the same things but they are all worshiping the same true
